Canadian Inventions Competition

Are you already dreaming about CJ’17 in Nova Scotia? Do you enjoy doing exciting hands-on STEM projects?

If you answered yes, then The Scouts Canada STEM Canadian Inventions Competition is for you! This is an excellent opportunity for you to put your STEM-related knowledge and skills to work, solve a problem and win up to $1500 towards your trip to CJ’17 at Camp Nedooae in July 2017!

Use STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) to come up with a new product or process to solve a problem that you consider important or to do something fun!  You can either develop an improvement on an existing Canadian invention or come up with something completely new.

How do you participate?

Who is eligible to participate?

All Scouts who will be attending the 13th Canadian Jamboree at Camp Nedooae in July 2017 and all Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts who will be attending as Offer of Service are eligible to participate. You can create a project independently or as a group; prize money will be shared between team members.

Submit your proposal

Submit a written proposal by using the available proposal form and tell us a bit about your project, what does it do, what elements of STEM are involved and how it relates to current STEM research and other projects.

Submit your final project by February 28, 2017

Send us a video showing off your project. What problem does it solve? How did you create it? Show us your project in action. Your project will be judged based on connection to STEM, relevance to the outdoors, creativity and innovation, and inquiry and problem solving. Each area should be addressed in your video submission.
